All the money collected from the betting is distributed as prizes, and we normally work out the starting prices and announce them before the race runs.  This way people know how much their horse is worth as it is running on the screen, adding to the excitement.  A small percentage can be deducted for the club or charity, usually between 20% - 40%, depending on how many people attend the event.
